Tour Groups

Dear Group Operator:

Thank you for your interest in Stream Cliff Farm. Our farm consists of many beautiful display gardens laid out in the designs of quilt patterns and several unique water features. There are three shops filled with wonderful handcrafts and as well as a large assortment of garden items. We sell a wide variety of herbs, perennials, wildflowers and other unusual plants. We offer interesting classes, workshops and lectures on subjects such as gardening, the use of herbs, cooking and handcrafts. In the past we have brought many garden celebrities from across the country to be guest lecturers. Also at Stream Cliff Farm we have an outstanding restaurant, Twigs & Sprigs Tearoom. The Tearoom serves wonderful meals using fresh ingredients and herbs from our gardens. Each plate is garnished with a beautiful herb or edible flower. Twigs & Sprigs Tearoom is open for individual customers but the same delicious meals are served buffet style to our larger groups in The Keeping Room. This building is used for group events and is designed to seat approximately 50 guests inside. An additional 30 to 40 guests can be accommodated on the porch overlooking the beautiful gardens. The Keeping Room is decorated in unusual antiques and quilts because of the interesting history it holds. It was once a boarding house for the men working on the railroad and was moved to it's current location nearly a hundred years ago by a team of mules. (We still have the ropes used to move this massive building).

We are a family business that began more than 30 years ago by my parents Betty and Gerald Manning. My brother, Greg, and I are the fifth generation to live on our beloved farm. Our farm is rich in history as it was raided during the Civil War by Morgan's Raiders, a band of 3,000 Confederate soldiers. We are always happy to share the story of Morgan's raid with our visitors.

Our farm was featured in Better Homes & Garden's Garden Shed 2001 June/July issue, the summer issue 1999 of Gardening How-To magazine the periodical of the National Gardening Club, the December/January 1999-2000 issue of The Herb Companion, January/February 1994 edition of Beautiful Gardens, a national magazine and the June 1998 issue of Midwest Living. Our farm is a serene place where visitors can sit, relax and enjoy the beauty of the day. It is our goal to give our guests an experience not found at any other farm in the nation. We value our customers and are always striving to make Stream Cliff a quaint place where the past and present meet.

All group packages include a meal, a tour of the gardens and a craft project or a lecture on gardening and the history of our farm. We offer many choices to allow you to customize your visit with us based on your group' interests. I look forward to answering any questions you may have about our farm or the group packages we offer. Policies for Group Packages and Group Make and Take Craft Projects

All craft classes require one-month reservation led time for supplies. Minimum number attending for all classes and all groups is twenty. To secure a date, booking should be done in advance with an approximate number. At one month prior to your make and take function a $10.00 per person deposit is required for supplies. You may add to this number after this date and we will accommodate these additional people if supplies are available. A $10.00 per person deposit is required at the time of adding to your number. Please inform us as soon as possible as many classes require time to acquire supplies. All deposits are non-refundable and are subtracted from the balance due on the day of your event.

Our policy for group functions requires an attendance of twenty. If your group is less than twenty we would suggest inviting friends or family to come for this special day to help you meet that number. If your group fails to meet the twenty-person minimum please understand your group will be charged the amount of the twenty-person minimum. Another option for small groups not wishing to have a program, lecture or guided tour is to make reservations to eat in the tearoom. Then your group may enjoy your own self-guided tour, shopping and plant selections. All groups of 8 or more must make reservations for eating in the tea room. Then those groups are welcome to use the garden seating if a small meeting is needed at no charge. We are unable to accommodate meetings held in the tearoom.
